Our goal is to give young people the opportunity to learn and play the athletic game of tennis. Our objective is to start young students on the right foot with proper instruction on strokes, footwork and scoring. This outdoor activity will promote a fun atmosphere, team camaraderie, and a better understanding of team sportsmanship. The result of this will enhance the middle school and high school programs in our communities.

Director Robert Chonoles is the Head Men's Varsity Coach at Detroit Country Day School and a USPTA certified level 1 teaching pro at the Sports Club of West Bloomfield. He has taught tennis in our area for the past 30 years. His experience stretches from toddlers to working with a WTA professional. His enthusiasm and love of the game has encouraged 100's of students to pursue tennis at the high school and college level. Many past students have credited Robert for their love of the game.

PRE-HEAT run by Robert Chonoles  is a  subsidiary of the HEAT Tennis Academy, owned and operated by  Steve Herdoiza and Grant Asher. The HEAT academy received  the BEST of Bloomfield Hills Award in 2019. PRE-HEAT introduces the game of tennis to beginners in an effort to promote them to the HEAT Tennis Academy.

Safety and Placement

We are very excited to start our summer program and are working very diligently to make it the safest, best possible experience for everyone given the circumstances. Our number one goal will be to keep a safe environment at all times.

Placement of specific players into a specific session is subject to modification based on several factors including our projected daily and weekly attendance, demonstrated player skill levels, and the number of open courts. Please contact Pre-HEAT Director Robert Chonoles about placement questions.

We reserve the right to add, alter, or cancel any program based upon changing circumstances.
